Hi Carol. I have a couple of quick questions - it says in your advice
section to use a good quality sandpaper - can you recommend one and if so
what guage/coarseness is best to use, and do I sand before I prime or do I
prime first then sand the primer down ?
Please let me know.
Thanks. Nick.
Hi Nick  For a best finish  prime  then sand with 120 sand paper ( very light sanding)  In the cut out mouldings you may need to rub down with a rough wire wool  You may wish to repeat the process   It's personal preference before top coating...   Best wishes From Your Senior Wall Panelling Advisor Carol Direct from The Uk's Top Team of Wall Panelling Experts Free phone 0800 169 6855 For Everything You Will Ever Need To Know For Your Own Ideal Wall Panelling Design.. Subject: Cracked Walls
Dear Sirs
I built my bungalow in 1976 on Sussex clay before the foundation depths were really appreciated needless to say we have lived with subsidence cracks ever since.
There are two walls and a ceiling which I think could be panelled over if the movement can be confined to specific points, that is either side and perhaps a concealed joint in the centre. This is no doubt an issue have come across in the past and so I am enquiring whether your panel system can be fitted to deal with this.
I look forward to your reply.
Yours Faithfully.

yes you can panel over your 2 walls and ceiling if you feel that the movement of your bungalow has settled

What I need from you to put some best quotes together are just your wall and ceiling sizes...
Thank you very much Mr Alce

I have been looking at your website but can,t find any reference to the actual material used in the manufacture of the panels.  I assume it may be MDF.  Does it have any insulation value?  Or do you produce an insulated panel which is also decorative?   Thank you Jean Spencer
Hi Jean  thank you for getting in touch with us here at Wall Panelling  We make the panels from any timber specification.  Yes you are right The most popular is the moisture resistant MDF depending on the design from 6mm to 25mm thickness.  Another popular choice is oak/oak veneer.  To check on the full information of the  insulation values and specifications of the MDf product please see finsa website www.finsa.com because Finsa is the only product we will craft with.  If you want to share with us where you are looking to panel and we can offer any further advice that would be great of you..  Thanks so much, Jean  From Your Senior Wall Panelling Advisor Carol Direct from The Uk's Top Wall Panelling Workshop of Experts Free phone 0800 169 6855 For Everything You Will Ever Need To Know For Your Own Ideal Wall Panelling Design.. Hi again Carol,
Thanks for your advice. I think we really need the skirting at the bottom and I was under the impression from the pics on the website that it wouldn't look right without it really. What size do you think we need to look in proportion with the panel?
Kind regards,

Hi Shirley  Yes I must admit I do prefer skirting myself however it is personal preference  Panels at a height of approx 1 metre and we would recommend a height of skirting of 125mm However it isn't a hard and fast rule  Because we can change the design and what height the bottom rail starts in the panel  again we can change the height of this skirting to suit  Hope that helps Shirley  Thanks so much,  From Your Senior Wall Panelling Advisor Carol Direct from The Uk's Top Wall Panelling Experts For Everything You Will Ever Need To Know For Your Own Ideal Wall Panelling Design.. Dear Carol,
Thanks very much for getting back to me so quickly! Yes, the details are approximately correct.
What thickness is the veneer part of the oak? Do you do solid wood and if so, what would the cost be?
Kind regards,
Shona Smith
Hi Shona  yes the 18 mm oak/oak veneer is made up as follows  1. framework of 12mm oak faced mdf  2. Then a 6mm mdf oak/oak veneer back  3. Then solid oak beading  Because of how they are made they don't warp or crack unlike solid oak and you finsihbthe in exactly the same way as solid oak eg varnish and then waxing if preferred  For solid oak please just double the price (Solid timbers are very expensive at the moment)  Hope that helps  If there is anything I can do to help, if you have anything on your mind please just ask  Thanks so much, Shona  From Your Senior Wall Panelling Advisor Carol Direct from The Uk's Top Wall Panelling Experts For Everything You Will Ever Need To Know For Your Own Ideal Wall Panelling Design.. Hi Donna  On the website www.wallpanellingltd.com on the right hand side is a heading which says How to Install.  Under that heading is  1a video showing how to install 2. How to install in picture form and 3Also writing instructions too  To paint the panels use a good acrylic primer and then a good acrylic top coat Many customers like applying colours from the heritage range of Farrow and ball and the TV Interior Design presenters use colours from the Little Green Paint Company..  The panels are sanded here however there may be some areas in the corners that need a little sanding down,  Hope that helps!  Best wishes   From Your Senior Wall Panelling Advisor Carol Direct from The Uk's Top Wall Panelling Experts For Everything You Will Ever Need To Know For Your Own Ideal Wall Panelling Design.. Hello,
We are very interested in having one wall in our bedroom panelled, but have a query first:
Â
The wall in question is an outer facing wall of an old stone cottage. This stone wall is plastered but gets very cold in winter. We are hoping a layer of wood panelling will help to warm the wall by acting as a sort of insulating layer.  Can you tell me in your experience does panelling help to keep the cold out?
Â
We are considering the read and bead panelling option.Â
Many thanks for your time,
Â
 Gwyn Cox
Hi Gwyn  Thank you very much for getting in touch with us today at Wall Panelling We do appreciate it  To help 'warm'' your wall with panelling we would recommend  1. batoning off the wall  2. putting the read and bead on to the batons  3. Then put kingspan insulation behind the panelling   Hope that helps  I have attached a picture of how batoning works too.     If there is anything I can do to help, if you have anything on your mind please just give us a call . Thanks very much for your reply and info.Â
Just a question on the kingspan - what's the best way to insert the
insulation once the panelling is in place?
I noticed on the attached pics there is a moisture barrier. Is it
recommended to put that on the wall first, then the batons, then the
panelling and then fill with insulation?
Many thanks again for your help!
Cheers,
Gwyn
